(Lima, SoloAar Exclusive).- César Báez General Director of BYA Group, granted an interview to SoloAzar within Peru Gaming Show. There he spoke about the positive experience that the event meant for his company, the return to activity in this particular year and the objectives for 2022, among other topics.

After almost two years of pandemic, we returned to the shows. First Las Vegas, now Peru. What is your experience on the matter?
We were in Las Vegas now in October, I did not know whether to go or not to go and the balance after G2E was positive, more than good. It wasn't a lot of people, but the people who did bought me. I really didn't want to come to Peru, so Rubén (Solórzano) told me: "Do it for the sector," and I said, well, he's right. I thought no one was going to go. To my surprise, although there are fewer exhibitors than in other editions, of all the people who came, perhaps 10% showed interest and then sold at 1% or 2%.

In this edition, of the 100% that came before maybe 50% came, but of that percentage, 40% are interested and visit us, so in numbers, it has been double or triple as positive than in previous years, because in addition to 40%, 20% are interested and they are making me small orders, more however in the number of orders you fill a container and that 3 or 4 times, so I think it has been very positive. People like that we have the disposition to change design things, for example, change a seat to another chair, or paint the base in a special color.

I was visited by a young lady who wants to open a sportsbook only for ladies, so she wants the new line of gamers armchairs for sportsbooks in pink and white and she was delighted with our products.

PGS was more positive than I thought. I learned many things. We had two tremors upon arrival. I don't know if it was because we arrived with such force that Peru trembled. We are very happy.

How do you plan to start next year?
We are preparing even with more personnel in the factory, we have a kind of small school now. Before the pandemic we were around 18 people, and there were 7 people left, and for two weeks we have been working every day, including Saturdays and Sundays. So when we go to work on weekends I pay for breakfast, so I called the plant to find out how many of us were in order to buy the food, and there were 37 of us, since we integrated some people from another factory.

So now, qualified labor is increasingly difficult to find, that's why we set up a little school, where workers are being taught in order to increase our production plant, because now we include Venezuela, where we are already sending products to 3 or 4 casinos.
Being in the expos makes a lot of people know us, and when those people think of chairs they think of us, then we have a lot of work for Venezuela and Mexico as well. Several casinos have closed, but the new owner of that casinos are now reopening and they aim to renew the carpets, the chairs. It benefited us and now we have a lot of work.

Upcoming shows for the company?
There's ICE London, but we're not going there in 2022. Two years ago we exhibited in a small stand with colleagues from Miami. We had a good performance when we went, but this year we were evaluating what to do and decided better to wait for the next edition. I think our next show will be Cartagena, Colombia.
